Normally i’ ll include the what to dos in my experience but i feel a little bit different this time. I might be sharing my Capetown experience a bit later than i expected and that in addition to the fact that some of what i’ ll be sharing here today are things i learned i could have done while in Capetown a little bit too late, is what inspired me to do this post. I’ll jump right into it so here are a a few things you should try while in Capetown.
1. Visit table mountain
There are double-decker sightseeing buses that operate on four routes. You can see the best of Cape Town with a combined Table Mountain return cable car ticket, Cape Town hop-on hop-off bus ticket and, free walking tour. Use the bus to be dropped at the door of the Cableway station at a cost of € 36.02 and ride to the mountain top on the car cable. You can also choose to hike up the mountain, the choice is all yours.
2. Go on a sunset cruise
Sail out on to the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Town to get amazing views of the coast and relax on board, but most importantly get to chase the best possible view of the sun setting over the ocean. Bring a warm jacket for the cruise as it may be colder on the return journey to the harbor. This will roughly cost you € 23.50. You can also choose to Cruise and dine on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. This package offers a waterfront sunset champagne cruise followed by a 3-course meal at a choice of 3 waterfront restaurants at a cost of roughly € 45.
3. Visit the wine lands.
Experience the unmistakable beauty of the Cape winelands on a full day of wine tasting. The cost implication attached to this adventure will depend on your choice. There are those that charge as low as € 58.96 and others as high as € 147.25. You can also choose to do a half day tour which is cheaper.
4. Bungee jump at Bloukrans bridge
For those of us that like all things thrilling this death defying feat will leave adrenaline flowing in your veins. Walk along the specially designed catwalk suspended beneath the road surface. It leads to the launch site at the top of the arch that stands at an enormous 216 metres. The walk alone can be absolutely terrifying for some! If you going to do it,i believe you should do it well,Bloukrans Bungy is the worlds highest commercial bungee jump. The easiest way is to rent a car and drive there if you are staying at Capetown. You can also use a bus but you’ll incur additional costs on accommodation as this will take two days. The distance between the two is roughly 6hrs for self drive and the cost attached to the activity is roughly $100. The fact that i didn’t do this still hurts.
5. Visit cape of good hope
Enjoy a day excursion from Cape Town to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. Visit the penguins at Boulders Beach and even spot whales in season. Drive along the picturesque Atlantic Coast. Make a brief stop at the beautiful beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, which also offers an amazing view of the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range.
6. Hop into a bus for the city tour
At a cost of € 13.55 you can also discover the many attractions Cape Town has to offer on a double-decker sightseeing bus tour. You can choose between a Classic one day or Premium two day ticket and hop-on and off the bus whenever you like. These buses operate on 4 tour routes, nice, right?
7. Visit Kirstenbosch national botanical garden
Kirstenbosch is beautiful to say the least. The sight seeing buses can get you there. The beauty of it as i realized you don’t need to book in advance, just in case you want to self drive there or uber. You just pay on arrival and enjoy the gardens. They charge 70 rands.
8. Hike up lion head or signal hill for sunset views
9. Hop on a boat for speed boat adventure
Try an exhilarating sailing cruise to no-where across the bay. See magnificent mountains and enjoy waterfront harbor views. You also get to enjoy a fast ride out of the harbor followed by a slow search for marine life. I really wanted to do this but there is a booking minimum requirement of two people. You also enjoy the vibrant waterfront after your cruise. This will cost roughly € 40 per person.
10. African dinner and drumming experience
Get to take part in a unique dining experience in the heart of Cape Town and participate in an interactive drumming session. Taste a range of dishes from Africa with a 14 course set menu meal.
11. Cape wheel skip
That is not all,you can also enjoy a 360 panoramic view of Table Mountain, Robben Island, the Cape Town city skyline, and local mountains from the Cape Wheel at the V&A Waterfront. Each ride takes four revolutions, lasting about 15 minutes at a cost of € 9.56
12. Cape point tour
Enjoy a scenic drive from Cape Town to Cape Point with stops along the way. Explore the lighthouse at Cape Point and take a photo at the Cape of Good Hope sign. You can also choose to visit the penguin colony or have a boat trip to Seal Island. This will roughly cost you € 85
13. Capetown dune adventure tour
At a cost of € 120 enjoy a dune Adventure Tour in an Open Top Jeep Wrangler.
14. Garden route tour
If you staying long in Capetown this 5 day safari along the legendary garden route of South Africa is a worth giving a shot. Get to see some of South Africa’s most scenic locations, such as Cape Agulhas and Knysna. There are also a lot of activities to engage in like bungee jumping,Visit a penguin colony in Betties Bay,visit Addo Elephant National Park and tandem sky dive just to mention a few.
15. Capetown water biking.
This is a new activity that i would have tried had i learned about it earlier. It entails cycling on the ocean on the worlds most advanced water bike. It’s a totally new and unique way to experience the incredible marine environment of False Bay – renowned for its stunning ocean and mountain views and marine wildlife. All this will cost roughly € 43.37
