Laikipia is one of Kenya’s most exciting safari destinations. I have had friends in the past inquire about where to stay in Nanyuki mostly those visiting as a group and not open to staying in a hotel. While there are a number of  places one could stay i found this holiday home to be perfect for a group of 10 people.

At Mount Kenya Wildlife estate you will find beautiful houses all double storey with a choice of 3, 4 or 5 bedrooms all ensuite. Each has a living room, dining room, fitted kitchen with store, a fireplace for those cold Nanyuki nights, and verandahs front and back on both floors, offering incredible views over wild Africa and the stunning Mount Kenya as a backdrop. They are comfortably furnished and self catering just 25 minutes away from Nanyuki along the Nanyuki Rumuruti road.

Sitting between the foothills of the Aberdares and the iconic Mount Kenya, a stunningly diverse and seemingly magical environment, the estate offers a peerless and exquisite venue for the perfect friends escape or family holiday. If you are a sunrise person, you’ll be in for a treat. Check this out.

This however being an area i am completely familiar with and one that holds a special place in my heart i ‘ ll probably share a couple of things you can do while here.

1. A visit to Mount Kenya National park.

*You can either choose Naromoru gate and drive up to Met station as you enjoy a breath of fresh air and very beautiful scenery.

*You can also choose Sirimon gate and drive to old Moses. You won’t regret it. The views from there will capture your heart.

*If you happen to have a good machine and feel like having the most rewarding hike of your life, this’s for you. Drive to kisima, take the KESAL route on your right and have a hike to lake Rutundu and Alice. Is this enticing enough?

2. Go on a game drive in Ol pejeta. It has interesting and chequered history plus wildlife. It was home to Sudan, the world’s last male northern white rhino.

3. Visit Ol jogi wildlife conservancy

4. Head to Ngare ndare and enjoy Kenya’s most beautiful canopy walk

5. Sample Nanyuki’s night life.

Enjoy Nanyuki

Cheers
